Must Read Monday: Books about Compassion

I'm happy to be joining Kindergarten Planet and The Kindergarten Connection again for Must Read Monday. I love this linky! I jump in whenever I am able. :)
(Click the book images to link to Amazon.)

One of my favorite books of all time. Two friends learn how secrets are no fun and how true friendship involves forgiveness (compassion). Keep an eye on the red balloon while you read!  This book is great for just about any lesson - comprehension skills or social skills.  Mine is so well loved I should by a new one. :)

An oldie but a goodie...  Wanda wears the same faded blue dress every single day.  Girls in the class make fun of her when she tells them she has 100 dresses in her closet at home.  The story ends with a powerful message when Maddie decides she will never stand-by in silence again. It's a longer book not for one sitting but well worth it.  I still have my copy from when I was a kid. :)

Love this book, too. (I have a book problem...my first job as our local library and then B. Dalton.)  Henry and Amy are the best of friends even though they are complete opposites.  It helps kids see how different we all are...and there's nothing wrong with being different.  The treehouse in this story always gets lots of oooohs and aaaahs.

Kids think this is funny and it leads to great discussions.  Owl and Rabbit are friends but they get into a crazy competition. They build and build their houses so tall they crumble.  In the end, they agree friendships are worth more than the tallest house.

I hope you find a book to love here!
Thank you for stopping by...
